Selling on E-Bay:
Been there, done that. I lived near a factory that supplied product to the high end bath/bedding stores. Every 6 months are so, they would sell to the public (at RIDICULOUS discounts). For a quick example, I would pay $1.00 for a box of shower curtain rings that I would sell for $20 on ebay. (And in stores, they would sell for as much as $30). Needless to say, I would stock up and resell on ebay. It was fun for a while and definitely gave me some extra cash.. but it quickly became a chore that I just didn’t LOVE doing enough to fit in between my full time job at the time. But that’s just me.. You may love it! I’ll definitely do it again if I need some extra cash. It’s just so simple.
Tips if you want to try making money online selling on EBAY:
- Do your research first. Just like your first day at work, you go through training. Don’t just jump in.. check out the ebay site to find out the steps you need to take. Check out some internet forums for ideas from people who are already doing this & are willing to share. Be sure to speak to your tax advisor as well & prepare yourself for tax time. (You will be making an income, after all!)
- What are you going to Sell? Figure out what your going to sell. It’s not that hard! Do you have stuff around the house you just don’t use? One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Believe me! Don’t have any stuff to sell? No problem, visit your local thrift store, or discount supply store. Alot of people buying products on ebay live in remote areas and would gladly buy from YOU than to travel out of their way to save a few bucks. Another favorite way I obtained my inventory, was visiting local toy stores when they were having major clearances. A clearance near YOU, doesn’t mean it’s nationwide. So the specific toys you were lucky to find at clearance may net you a nice profit by selling it to someone else across the country that really wanted the product but may not be able to locate it!
- Be Prepared: Make sure you prepared for when your auction ends. Just some of the items you may need are: Paypal Account, Postage Scale (to weigh your package), Packing Material (peanuts, etc.), Cardboard boxes. You’ll want a printer to print out the postage if your using USPS online, Fed-Ex, or to print your invoices to your “customers” if you’d like.
Lastly, Have Fun with it! This can be a lot of fun when you start doing it. The thrill of the hunt for me was going to my local toy store & finding an item that I KNOW was a hot item on ebay (because I did my research first!) and then buying them out & listing them on ebay for a sweet profit. (TIP: action figures were one of my favorites… )
