Mystery Shopper
Become a Mystery Shopper. This one was a little less lucrative for me, but loads of fun.
Essentially, you get an “assignment” from a Mystery Shopping company with a set of instructions for a certain location that they’d like you to be a mystery shopper for, and in a nutshell, you: Review your overall shopping experience by filling out an online form and submitting it to them according to their specifications/guidelines.
Some items they typically ask you for:
- Rate the cleanliness of the store and their restrooms during your visit.
- Review the product(s) and/or service
- Rate your customer service experience. (How long did it take for you to be served, what was the name of the rep who provided you service, and provide any comments/feedback).
You’ll need a good memory, because you can’t just bring in a pad/paper & write down your experience as your having it. (Hence the term Mystery Shopper).
Typically, I would carefully observe everything around me and the moment I get to my car I would jot everything down. (Date/Time, person who served me, how long it took to be served, and everything I witnessed or observed while inside).
Things you may need:
- A Reliable Vehicle
- Pen/Paper (for use when you get back to your car!)
- A good memory
- GPS (or Map) to print out directions and plan out your trip if you have multiple locations to visit.
Remember! Do your research first. My recommendation is to do a search on internet forums where people who are ALREADY Mystery Shoppers are sharing their experiences. (This is why I love the internet!).
NOTE: There are ALOT of scam companies out there, please be sure to only sign up for reputable Mystery Shopper companies. I’ll try to check my archives to see which companies I successfully worked for in the past & update this blog when I find them.
Have Fun & Stay Safe!
