Work At Home Moms, It’s not that serious!

Work at Home Moms: It’s not that serious!

Ok, I just want to make something clear. Sure, it’s great to be able to stay at home with your kids and have a job where you can work from home.  Who doesn’t want that? Even someone who doesn’t have kids or a family would want the freedom and luxury of working from the comfort of their own home.

But listen, it’s not that serious. One thing that moms (and dads) need to know, is that you should NEVER feel guilty if your unable to do this! Your kids will grow up ok if you end up having to get a 9-5 and your plans of working from home dont pan out. I remember both my parents with jobs & I turned out fine! I actually have fond memories of walking home from school with grandma, having a bite to eat waiting for Dad to come home from work around 4. Then Dad & I would drive downtown to pickup my mom at 5. It was a daily routine that I really didn’t mind. Who knows, maybe if they were around me all of the time I’d feel smothered. I dunno! But, It was life.. my mom and dad worked very hard for a living, to put food on our table, to put clothes on our backs (and buy my comfy-cozy footsie pajamas). We went without ALOT, but what we did have we cherished, and I SO cherished my family! I love my family, and whether they stayed home with me, or went to work I grew up a very happy girl. I had a great childhood regardless, so DO NOT ever feel guilty about this.

DID MY MOM EVER WORK FROM HOME?

At around age 10 or so, I remember my Mom having a job where she could work from home. She was a seamstress and had a room in the basement with a whole setup with everything she needed. Even though she worked from home, I still rarely saw her.. I was always outside playing, or up in my room playing with toys, listening to music, etc. I remember so vividly screaming down the stairs around 8pm on a weekday.. “MA! ALF IS ON! COME UPSTAIRS!”  and even though she wasn’t finished working.. she made it a point to come up and watch the show with me. She’d make us all a cup of tea & snuggle up on the couch to watch the shows. (We also loved watching Highway to Heaven). So even though she had what we’d call a “Work From Home Career“, it really wasn’t all that different, she was just a hop skip and a jump away.. but she still had to work hard. She would get up super early, long before we got up in the morning and would go to bed long after we all went to bed at night. and in between, she still found time to mend our bumps & bruises, make our school lunches, feed us, clothe us & do housework. She was Super Mom!

Moral of the story is… Kids will grow up just fine, no matter what you do. Just love them and be the best parent you can be. Whether your working at home, or working at a regular job.. you can still raise healthy happy kids. Work from home opportunities are everywhere and everyone wants in. (that’s the point of this whole website being created, so that i can share it with others!) But, don’t get caught up in it all if it’s something that you just can’t do… you’ll be fine if you dont, just like moms and dads have done for the past hundreds and thousands of years… God Bless! :)
